Every week, travelers ask me the same question: where are the best photo spots in Paris? After years of shooting across the city as a local photographer, I have tested every staircase, every bridge, and every quiet courtyard. This guide gathers the locations that consistently produce the images my clients love most.

What Are the Best Photo Spots in Paris?

The best photo spots in Paris are the places that combine an iconic backdrop, flattering light, and enough room to move freely. The Trocadero esplanade, the Louvre courtyard, Montmartre, the Seine bridges, and the hidden passages all meet those three conditions, which is exactly why most of my sessions happen there.

Here is my shortlist by atmosphere, before we explore each one:

  • Iconic and grand: the Trocadero esplanade at sunrise.
  • Elegant and artistic: the Louvre pyramid and its arcades.
  • Romantic village: the lanes and steps of Montmartre.
  • Classic Parisian: the Seine and Pont Alexandre III.
  • Calm and hidden: Palais-Royal and the Marais courtyards.

The Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower

The Trocadero gives you the most direct view of the Eiffel Tower, which makes it the most requested location for an Eiffel Tower photo session. Arrive at sunrise and you will have the marble terrace almost to yourself, with soft golden light washing over the monument.

If you want fewer tourists in the frame, walk down toward the fountains or cross to the gardens on the river side. The angles are lower, the crowds are thinner, and the photos feel far more intimate.

The Louvre Courtyard and the Arcades

The Louvre works at almost any hour because the architecture does the heavy lifting. The glass pyramid adds a modern contrast, while the stone arcades of the Cour Carree create natural frames and soft, even light that flatters everyone. It is also one of the rare grand locations that stays beautiful on a rainy day.

Montmartre and the Sacre-Coeur Steps

Montmartre still feels like a village. Cobbled lanes, ivy covered facades, and the white domes of the Sacre-Coeur give your gallery a completely different mood from the grand monuments. Early morning is the secret here: the light is gentle, the streets are empty, and the bakeries are just opening.

The Seine, Pont Alexandre III, and the Bridges

The river is the spine of the city, and its bridges are open air studios. Pont Alexandre III, with its gilded statues and ornate lamps, is the most elegant of them all. Pont de Bir-Hakeim offers those famous repeating steel columns, with the Eiffel Tower rising in the background.

At golden hour, the stone quays along the water turn warm and soft. Couples especially love this setting, and you can see that mood throughout my couple sessions in Paris.

Hidden Courtyards: Palais-Royal and the Marais

When you want calm, head to the striped columns and tidy gardens of the Palais-Royal, or get lost in the courtyards of the Marais. These places rarely appear on postcards, yet they often produce my clients' favorite images. You can see more of this mood in my instagrammable Paris album.

How to Plan Your Paris Shoot

Now that you know the best photo spots in Paris, pick two or three that sit close together instead of racing across the city. Check the light for your time of day, and read my guide on the best time to shoot at the Eiffel Tower before you lock your schedule.

If you would rather skip the planning entirely, that is exactly what I do for my clients. I build the route, time the light, and guide you from the first frame to the last one.
